The Faith for Rights Academy has worked to produce a Sourcebook for your in-person sessions. This was inspired both by the work the late Professor Jeanne Hersch, René Cassin and the Scriptural Reasoning movement.
Jeanne Hersch wrote the book Birthright of Man which is also available on this site with kind permission of UNESCO who have allowed this work to be used for all Faith for Rights projects.
René Cassin was the co-author of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was known to have regualr engaged with faith leaders on human rights and text.
We have selected texts from the sources of world faith and belief systems whilst adding quotes we believe will help bridge the human rights and faith. This is a project in development and we always welcome suggestions. These texts are suggestion a bridge and are in no way exhaustive.
We have decided to add in the Arabic of all quotes from the Quran or otherwise kept the text in a recognised English translation. For texts coming from the Hebrew Bible we have tried to use translations closer to the Hebrew original. We have also decided where we had a choice to use inclusive translations where the original text gave us that option.
